When a student is close to graduation, everything is perceived with exaggeration especially in Nigeria. The way such student talk, carry himself or herself, friends choice even the way he dress becomes a BIG deal to people around such student.

How does this relate to this you might want to ask, well, being able to knot a proper tie in Nigeria portray that you are a graduate (in some ways). Am not saying it is bad for a graduate not to know how to knot a tie (which am still saying it is bad), am just saying, an average Nigerian judges graduates by little things like "knowing how to knot a tie".

In as much as i try to agree and disagree about if it is good or bad for a graduate to know how to tie a tie, wearing a tie comes with some advantage you might not know, as a graduate, this advantage might work for you during an interview, a conference or anywhere you find yourself.

    Benefits of Wearing a Tie

Ties Frames the Face. The tie is like an arrow to the face, drawing attention upwards for improved communication. If you don't want people to see to your face from the wrong direction right, so learn how to tie a nice tie.

"A well-tied tie is the first serious step in life." — Oscar Wilde, Poet

Ties are a Focal Point. Each outfit needs a focal point, somewhere for the eye to rest. Particularly when in a color, the tie becomes a focal point.

Ties are Perceived as Professional. With case studies that have been conducted, most researchers have found that men perceive the tie as most business-like.

Women Love A Man in a Tie. Laugh if you want to, but have seen a lady who confirmed this, so what's the smile in your face for?

After all this, i know some people might want to say "What i wear does not matter as long as i can get the work done and i maintain a very good manner" well, you are right but remember:

"Clothes and manners do not make the man; but when he is made, they greatly improve his appearance."— Arthur Ashe, Professional Tennis PlayerOk, enough said already.
